It’s been a minute.
You-Jitsu started as a way to help white belts not quit. Over time, it became conversations about fundamentals, plateaus, and surviving long enough to improve. That foundation still stands.
But I’m not in the same place anymore.
I’m 52. Purple belt. Still training. The rank isn’t the headline. The time is.
The longer I’ve stayed on the mats, the more I’ve seen that the dividing line isn’t talent. It’s longevity.
I’ve watched athletic people disappear. I’ve seen steady people become dangerous because they didn’t leave.
That’s what this version of You-Jitsu is about.
Not less technique.
Better alignment.
I’m focused on building a connected game that fits who I am now. Strengthening my base. Addressing weaknesses honestly. Adding depth instead of randomness.
Most of us training today are professionals and parents carving out a few hard hours each week. That deserves a deliberate approach.
Moving forward, each episode will center on a real issue from the mats, unpack what’s happening, walk through practical steps, and connect it to the long game.
This isn’t about being the best in the room.
It’s about still being in the room.
Next episode: Why most people quit Jiu-Jitsu. Not because it’s too hard. Because it doesn’t match what they expected it to feel like.
If you’re here to build something that lasts, you’re in the right place.
Let’s get back to work.
