One week ago I was crawling because I could not walk, and that moment became the heart of Build Resilience Ahead of Time Not During the Emergency. The pain in my lower back hit hard and brought back memories of when a similar injury led to the discovery of my kidney cancer. I panicked for a moment, then caught myself and focused on breathing: slow, deliberate breaths to calm my mind and ease my body.
I reminded myself to do what I could, when I could, with what I had. My wife coached me through it and I leaned on years of training, mindfulness, and movement. Those habits, built long before this setback, helped me recover faster and think clearly through the pain.
The same lesson applies to leadership and project management. The preparation, routines, and planning we practice before the crisis determine how well we recover when it hits. PACE planning, mindfulness, and consistent habits build strength before the storm, not during it.
Resilience is not built in the crisis, it is built in the consistency.
Thank you for listening and Godspeed,
Kevin
