Get Back in Balance with a September Reset

September feels like a natural reset. School routines start fresh, the air cools, football season kicks off, and projects take on new energy. It is a time for change, reflection, and renewed momentum.

In this first episode of the relaunch, I share my own reset. I had slipped on a few of my pillars—less meditation, less journaling, poor wind-down routines, and not enough gratitude. A song by Linkin Park, Leave Out All the Rest, reminded me that life is short and that we should focus on what matters most. That reflection led me to take time at the lake, reconnect with family, laugh, train, and reset.

This episode walks through how you can use People, Process, and Progress as a framework for your own September reset:

  • People: Take ownership of where you are and who is with you. Appreciate your family, friends, and team.
  • Process: Revisit the 7 Pillars for a more balanced life, or ask yourself, what am I doing too much of, and what not enough of. At work, run a stop–start–keep review.
  • Progress: Remember that progress is any step forward. A single workout, one journal entry, a family dinner, or recognizing your team’s wins all count.

The key lesson: balance does not come from perfection; it comes from correction and intentional resets.

Your Call to Action

Think about your legacy right now. What would it say if your time ended today? Identify one area of your life or work that needs a reset, write it down, and then write two or three solutions for addressing it. That is how reflection becomes progress.
