I donโ€™t say that to minimize challenges. Rather, to remind myself that perspective matters. Over the past few years, through grief, anxiety, leadership, and responsibility at home and at work, Iโ€™ve learned a few lessons that apply just as much in life as they do in projects:

Perspective Lessons:

In life and in projects, setbacks feel heavy in the moment. Remembering that things could always be worse doesnโ€™t dismiss the challenge, it reframes it and helps us keep moving forward.

Whether leading a team or navigating grief, connecting the hard work to a bigger โ€œwhyโ€ keeps us anchored. Viktor Frankl reminded us that meaning transforms suffering into strength.

3. ๐‘บ๐’Ž๐’‚๐’๐’ ๐’˜๐’Š๐’๐’” ๐’‚๐’…
Anxiety, depression, and stalled projects all improve with consistent, small actions. One workout, one conversation, or one finished task can build momentum when things feel overwhelming.

As a husband, father, or project lead, itโ€™s easy to feel like everything rests on your shoulders. Sharing the load, asking for help, and empowering others builds resilience for you and your team.

Prayer, journaling, or simply taking a pause gives space for clarity. Faith practices in life, and after-action reviews in projects, both provide a path to learn and strengthen for the next challenge.

These arenโ€™t just ideas, theyโ€™ve been tested in public safety, healthcare, and project leadership, and lived out as a husband and father. Each one reminds me that growth doesnโ€™t come from ease, but from finding meaning and moving forward even when things are heavy.

Godspeed.
