The Mann Gulch Fire and COVID-19

Mann Gulch Fire Memorial

One of my Incident Management mentors was the inspiration for this episode called ‘Lessons From the Mann Gulch Fire’. He shared the article, “How the Mann Gulch Fire became part of the conversation about COVID-19“. The tragedy is awful. The lessons learned and applicability to pandemic response are very relevant. To me, running from or chasing a wildfire is similar to trying to avoid or stop a pandemic from spreading. It’s daunting and can seem impossible at times.

In this episode I provide a brief overview of this write up and share relatable planning lessons learned from the article, from my time as a Public Health Emergency Coordinator and my $.02 on how we can all make progress against COVID-19.

Stay safe, wash your hands and Godspeed,
