Getting to 20 Years of Marriage

Getting to 20 Years of Marriage – Marriage is the ultimate commitment in life. Two individuals come together, pledge to take care of one another and then become a couple. Forever. Well, that’s the plan at the time of the wedding right? I know it does not work out the same for everyone, but for my wife and I, marriage is something we now have 20 years of experience with.

In ‘PPP88: 10 Things That Got Us to 20 Years of Marriage’, I shared a combined list of 5 things from my wife and 5 things from me that we feel can help others make progress in their marriage. In addition to the 10 things listed below *spoiler alert*, I provide my wife and my perspective on why these things have mattered to us and how others can consider applying the mindset, professionals and perspective that we’ve learned after a couple of decades together.

Our 10 things:

  • Compromise
  • Talking it out
  • Seek outside help
  • Intimacy
  • Have your own purpose or outlet
  • Continue to be yourself
  • Know when to shut up
  • Fix your own sh&% first
  • Don’t put on airs
  • Do things together
