Compromise is Key

COMPROMISE: 1a : to come to agreement by mutual concession – merriam-webster.com

Compromise is key

This concept is is something my wife of almost 20 years and I learned the hard way. It’s also the first piece of advice we give (when asked) to newly married couples or folks in new relationships. Compromise is critical for marriages because bringing two people together who were single, living life their way and now made a vow to be partners is not easy. This is where the ability to give and take comes in.

Compromise is also vitally important in the business world. On projects we will have many ideas, some good, some bad.

What do we do when we have two equally good ideas, but don’t have the time or resources to use them both? We compromise and take the best from each. A buffet of ideas built around our ability to compromise.

In this episode ‘Foundations Friday 15: Compromise is Key’, I touch on this and a little more perspective for us to consider.
