I am thankful for being in this world. I’m thankful for my parents who made that happen. I’m thankful for my sister who toughened me up and took care of me. I’m thankful for my friends throughout my youth who I experienced the evolution of vinyl, cassettes and compact disks with. I’m thankful for the U.S. Navy for providing me a place to level set myself after wasting a semester at community college. I’m thankful for my Navy shipmates who I shared the same blood, sweat, poop and tears with taking care of critically ill and wounded patients.
I’m thankful for my wife. I’m thankful she became my wife and thankful that she’s stayed my wife. It has not been an easy road on many fronts. I’m thankful that she loved me enough to have three sons with me. I’m thankful for the opportunity to fail and triumph as a father. It’s made me a better person. I’m thankful for my dog and I miss my other two.
I’m thankful for a great boss. I’m thankful for the podcast platform where I can teach, but selfishly not have to get on a plane. I’m thankful for my instructors and training partners in Jiu Jitsu. Losing is learning for sure. I’m thankful for each of you reading this.
I’m thankful for each of you that may be fighting the darkness and be filled with woe and doubt. Stay here. Breath in this crisp fall air. Look up at the blue miracle in the sky that keeps us all alive. Listen to the birds singing their songs. Enjoy a sip of that warm coffee or tea. Stay here. Live your life to the fullest. Live.
Godspeed to you all, be kind to others and remember basic manners and travel well this week.
Happy Thanksgiving 2019,
